Rabies may manifest in one of the two forms:
1. Encephalitic (Furious) rabies
2. Paralytic (Dumb) rabies

Furious or encephalitic rabies
Hydrophobia (fear of water)
Photophobia (fear of light)
Aerophobia (fear of breeze)

Paralytic or dumb rabies (occurs in 20% cases)
Progressive paralysis mostly without hydrophobia
Death occurs in 4 days to two weeks and is due to cardio-respiratory failure.
The interval between the bite and rabies disease (Incubation Period) is extremely variable i.e. from 4 days to more than 2 years.
