Byssinosis

Byssinosis

• Due to inhalation of cotton fiber dust over long periods of time
• Symptoms are:
  • Chronic cough
  • Progressive dyspnea
  • Ending in chronic bronchitis and
  • Emphysema
• Incidence 7 – 8% in surveys done in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi
